About UsPurpose and PhilosophyThe Ceylon Society is a non-profit organisation aiming to foster, promote and develop interest in the cultural heritage the island of Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka Our philosophy is to maintain a non-confrontational, non-political, non-racial and non-sectarian outlook. We have proudly adhered to this philosophy since the Ceylon Society was established.
Chapters in Australia and Sri Lanka
The Ceylon Society was founded in Sydney in August 1997. A Melbourne Chapter was established in March 2000, followed by a Colombo Chapter in June 2007. Our Society has successfully brought together kindred spirits from across the globe, people with diverse outlooks and philosophies of life, but all linked together by a common heritage. We are not a formal high-profile Society but a gathering of like-minded people open to receiving and imparting new ideas and who enjoy having quarterly meetings in reasonably modest but intimate surroundings. Meetings are open to non-members by invitation. |
